How to destress?

We lead a very stressful life, indeed. If I could look back to a time when I was really stress free, it would be in primary school I think. (That's why I keep telling my kids, this is the best time of your life, just enjoy it and they just roll their eyes!)

I am a stay at home mum.

Some might say, tai tai life isn't all that stressful but I don't lead one. I am not a tai tai. But tai tais get stressed out too you know. Like what to wear for their events or bad hair day or when their face gets reaction to botox or when first class seats are sold out. You know, whether you are a Stay at Home Mum or a working mum, or a tai tai.... you will have stress regardless.

So how to destress?

Many people have different ways to cope and manage stress. I used to enjoy going for spas to relax but these days, I don't find it all that relaxing anymore. I used to go to spas ALL THE TIME and wishing I own one (just so I can go every single day) but luckily I don't anymore. It is nice to pamper myself once in a blue moon but I don't think I can destress at a spa anymore.

I think in today's day and age, the only way to destress is to be totally present without being connected to the outside world via social media. Agree?

Even when I'm doing my massage or facial, I am playing with my phone. It is almost impossible to let the phone down. What is the matter with me? I'm not chatting or anything, there is just always something to read online. Something to check and something to stalk! By doing that, you are actually stressing yourself out even more. Like when you see someone posting their trip to Maldives while you are stuck in the car during school runs. Isn't that causing yourself unnecessary stress? haha...

To me, to really destress, just shut your phone, shut your computer, shut your tv and just be present. Do what?

Go meet a friend and have a chat or catch up.
Go out to lunch and just try new food.
Go for a date with your husband and just hold hands.

Just be present.

Sounds simple enough to do but we don't do it enough. Agree?
