When I first got admitted, it was like "ok this is the time to rest" but what do you know? You can never really rest in the hospital. They come and take your blood pressure & temperature every few hours, then the come and take your order for food, then they come and deliver your food, come to hand you the newspaper, doctor comes to check twice a day, they come to change the sheets daily etc etc etc.. There is always someone coming in and out of the room. I was so annoyed as my sleep was always interrupted and then they come and say "boleh tido?" Like almost curious as to why I cannot sleep. Sigh

After 1 night in the hospital, I knew the tricks and decided NOT to have breakfast. Less interruption! But still, they come and wake me up at 5.45AM to take my temperature and blood pressure!
How annoying?

I then concluded that you can never rest in hospital.

Now that I'm home, it is the same thing too. My kids are on my case all the time. I don't blame them as I've been away for 4 days and I think they are just itching for some attention from me. But I am still weak and I find it really hard to stay calm with them. All of them, including the husband.

I am still not a 100% yet and doing things I normally do feels a million times more tiring. Last night, I cooked a dish for the first time and although everything was prepared by my maid and all I had to do is just cook, after cooking for a mere 10 minutes, I am already out of breath! My husband looked at me as if I am overreacting but I swear I wasn't.

I wish people would just let me recover and rest and not rush me. I feel so rushed. I had to rushed to get out of the hospital (because I wanted to go home!) and I had to rush to get better and I have to rush to do everything! With kids, it is no such thing as taking my own sweet time.

Pray I will get my strength back and Fast!
So tired!

Things to know about dengue

I have to say that before I had dengue, I didn't know much about it. All I know is it is kind of dangerous and you get them from mosquito! Spray away!!!

Here are the things I found out during my week of living with dengue

1. There are many symptoms and not everyone is the same. The main symptoms are: fever, body ache, headaches, low or no appetite, vomiting and diarrhea. For me, I started with headache - vomiting - fever - no appetite.
According to the doctor, most people will have fever for days but for me, my fever only lasted 1 day. So there are many stymtoms, make sure you don't miss any.

2. The treatment for dengue is basically nothing! Throughout my few days in the hospital, they only gave me medication for my vomiting (1 only vomited 2x) and for gastric (because I wasn't eating). Other than that, I was only on drips. If you can keep yourself hydrated from home, it is possible to recover at home. But you need to monitor your platelet and the way to do this is to have your blood taken for tests on a daily basis. Mine was done once a day.

3. Taking 100plus won't make you better. It will keep you hydrated and it is important to stay hydrated. You don't need 100plus, you can take any drink you want actually. The reason why they always recommend 100plus is because they tastes better.

4. Papaya leaf juice is good for dengue.
This is proven apparently.
It tastes like crap!!! It is so bitter, I swear to god but I guess it does help. I took it a few times but my platelet still kept going down though. But I'm sure it does help.

5. Sup Ketam
I've been having sup ketam since day 1! I don't know if it is really helping but to me, just eat whatever you can eat!

6. Normal platelet count is 150-400+ and anything below 100, most private hospitals will want to admit you. Government hospitals are different.

7. It will take you at least a week to recover from this. Get plenty of rest.

8. Spray your house, throw unwanted things away.. You will never know where that one damn mosquito is.

9. Once the hospital or health authority has your record and knows you have dengue (from the doctor's report), Kementerian Kesihatan will get on your case and come to your house to fog the area. How cool is that? Fortunately for me, my apartment does fogging monthly anyway so that is like double fogging here. But please be warned that sometimes, dengue is not from your home.. It couldn't be from anywhere. In my case, I think I got it when I was alone (without my kids) and perhaps one of the days when I was out to pick up my stuff from tailor or something. Whatever it is, be careful. It can be anywhere. Make sure you spray or put insect repellent on yourself and especially your kids when you are out. Especially now when it's always raining, aedes could be anywhere. Apparently according to the doctor, it is not any aedes that will give you dengue. It is only the female aedes with that is carrying the dengue virus that can give you dengue. Some female aedes don't even carry the virus so you are safe. But you see, what are the odds right? And still I got it. Shows that there are lots and lots of them everywhere. Scary! And apparently, they're out and about biting only from 6-8am and 6-8pm. I don't know how true this is but again, what are the odds? I'm never out 6-8am. And 6-8pm is only 2 hours a day I am potentially "exposed" and yet, I still kena!

10. Prevention is better than cure. I'm a grown up and my pain threshold is considered quite high. I can handle it. It was painful especially when I had the headache and whatnot. But imagine if it happened to my kids?? With all the blood that they need to take daily, with the pain.. All I keep saying if Alhamdulillah it didn't happen to my kids. So do what you need to do to prevent dengue!

Disclaimer: I am no expert. Do your own research on it and don't take my word for it.

I've been sick for a week now and it's been one helluva ride. When you have kids, especially young kids like mine, being sick is not an option. It just makes it harder for everyone.

On Wednesday (last week), I had the craziest headache ever. I thought I needed to get my eyes checked because my eyesight is not great anymore despite having LASIK done 7 years ago. But the headache I experienced last week was too crazy to ignore. It was so bad that I actually threw up that night. Still, thinking it was my eyesight, I just slept on it without taking any medication. I'm one of those girls who won't eat medicine unless I have too.

Then come Thursday, I started feeling worse and then came the fever. It was quite high and reaching 40degrees. I got all covered up and slept pretty much all day. My whole body was aching too. I lost all my appetite to eat or even to drink water. I just couldn't. I felt weak and weaker because I couldn't eat anything. My last meal was when I forced myself to eat Briani that night. I only had about 4-5 spoons of rice.

Friday was bad as I became weaker. I threw up again all the food I ate the night before. I felt weaker and weaker. By this time, hubs felt like we should really get to the hospital as I was in so much pain. My headache was killing me and my whole body was aching too. Fortunately, my fever went away but my appetite was so bad, I couldn't even drink any water. I was dehydrated big time. We went to the hospital (Tawakal) as it was the closest hospital to my house. 2 minutes drive. The doctor didn't say much. He asked if I wanted to get tested for dengue. Yup, HE asked ME. Shouldn't it be the other way round? I knew it was too early to get tested and he agreed. He gave me some panadol, salt water and vitamin c. It was such a waste of money because all didn't help. I was still in pain and it didn't help me in any way. I couldn't drink the salt water. I tried and almost threw up again. I have no more fever but my headache was so bad I feel like my head is going to explode or something!

Saturday was the same. I couldn't eat and drink. It was so bad and I became so weak.

Sunday morning, hubs dragged me to the hospital again. This time, we saw a better doctor. I didn't get her name but she immediately knew what was wrong with me and ordered for a blood test to be done. And what do you know? I am positive dengue!!!! I felt like she just told me I have cancer or something. I cried my eyes out because it was so shocking. I knew I was going to be admitted as my platelet was below 100. It was 97 and anything below 100 means they will need to admit me. I kept thinking about my kids. What are they going to do without me and how they will manage without me. Hubs took charge and controlled everything as I was taken to the room.

I didn't expect to be admitted. Had I knew, I would have gone to PrinceCourt or Pantai, a hospital I am more comfortable with.

I was given drips as I was majorly dehydrated big time. It was 5litres of water daily!!

Monday morning, they came to take my blood test at 6am! When the doctor came, she told me that my platelet has gone down from 97 to 72. Bummer! But I feel ok. My headache is gone and I don't have fever. Still... I have to wait and wait...
Being in the hospital sucks! I was missing my kids a lot! They came to visit after school and played a little but they they leave. It was so hard. I'm not sure if it is harder on me or them. The first night away was tough as both kids wanted me. I couldn't be there for them.

Tuesday morning and it's the same thing. Took my blood for test again and came back with the same result. My platelet is down from 72-60. What is going on?? I feel fine! The doctor said she has not seen many dengue cases where there's no fever. She looks at me and I look fine but yet, my platelet keeps dropping. I was told to rest. But can you really rest in the hospital?? I don't think so. They come and disturb you every few hours for every little damn thing. It was so annoying!!!

I did nothing but watch tv and sleep all day. This machine is so sensitive too. Each time I want to pee (like every 10 minutes, I swear!) the machine will beep!

It was so difficult to move around too. I was getting so bored and literally begged the doctor to let me go home. She said if my blood rest doesn't go down too drastically on Wednesday then she can let me go, provided I drink and eat well and get plenty of rest at home. I promised!

Wednesday morning, they took my blood again and oh my, I feel sorry looking at my arms. It is so bruised!

Blood results came back and still, my platelet is down from 60-42. I'm really worried but I didn't want to show the doctor that because I wanted to go home so badly. Below 50 is a bit risky for her to let me go, especially since they stopped me from going home when it was 97!

I pray to God for it to be ok and hurray, she finally said ok.

Went back home Wednesday noon. My kids was so happy to have their mummy back home. My appetite is still bad so I decided to make bergedil! Don't ask me why but I just felt like having it!

So I did! And it was good!

Thursday morning, I went back to Tawakal to see that doctor. Took my blood again and alhamdulillah, I am on the road to recovery. My platelet has gone up slightly. It is 52 today.

According to the doctor, it will slowly go up now. I'm so glad!

I've been sick for way too long! 1 week is a long time to be sick especially since I never ever ever get sick.

Good to be home. And goodbye dengue!

Beautiful me

Women will really do anything to be beautiful don't you think?

I've spent so much money in trying to achieve that "beauty" and it's still not working. Truth is, I am already as beautiful as I can get and no amount of money can make me more beautiful, except maybe plastic surgery but yet, I keep trying and trying, wasting and wasting more money. Ah well!

At one point, when everyone was going googoogaga over Premium Beautiful corsets I was itching to buy. I was so close to buying but I didn't because it suddenly occurred to me, the seller (who is one of the top people) isn't even slim! I didn't buy but I was so close!!!

Then there was this other corset by Cosry, I was again itching to buy. I know in my heart that it won't work but because I was so crazy to try and I'm such a sucker for "testimonials", I ended up buying it. And what do you know.. It was uncomfortable!!!! It was not even seamless so wearing it underneath any of my clothes would be so ugly with all the lines showing everywhere. And they expect you to wear it 8 hours a day? I couldn't simply because it wasn't seamless!

Finally I went Hollywood and bought a Spanx! It was much more comfortable and seamless. And it's not even that expensive! That was money well spent!!

Instagram and all these celebrities promoting beauty products is so bad I think. Some of them get paid over RM3000 per posting (FACT) to promote an item. So obviously when you get paid that much, you must really say amazing stuff about the products right? And we consumers, followers and crazy people will just simple go n buy! Heeheh
Disclaimer: not all celebs get paid that much.

Anyway, my latest "experiment" is this.

What's this? It's not just any drink. It's actually ribena + strawberries + toujour's collagen! Tadaaaaa!!!!

Everyone is into collagen right now so I thought, let's just join the crowd. The taste and smell really makes me urkk hence I added ribena. Then I could still take the collagen so I wanted to add something sour and since I had strawberries in the fridge, I added that too. And thank god it worked.

So it's only been 1 week now since I started and I don't know if I'm seeing things but my skin looks better and brighter. I can't see myself drinking this daily forever because I really hate the smell but let's hope I can finish off at least 1 tub of this so I don't waste my money!

Wish me luck

It is OK

You know what? Sometimes I think people put too much pressure on us mothers. I mean, motherhood is tough as it is, do we really need additional pressure to make us feel less of a mother? I seriously don't need it!

I remember growing up, it was difficult for my mum to bring us up alone, without any help from my dad but she did it. It was tough but she did the best she could. It was difficult but at least back then, there's not much pressure. Today, if you don't breastfeed, you get the "look", if you leave your kids with the maid, you get the "look".. It's like.. Come on! Don't we deserve a break??

Here's the thing,
1. It is ok if you choose to bottle feed, formula feed or breast feed your baby. It is all OK! As long as your baby is not starving, it is OK! Doesn't mean you breastfeed your baby for 24 months you are a good mum. Relax .....

2. It is Ok if you let the maid take care of your kids while you enjoy your long shower, or talk on the phone with your best friend or go shopping ... As long as someone is there to take care of your child, and he/she is not abandoned or alone, they will be fine! Relax....

3. It is OK if your child doesn't know how to read or write yet. They will pick it up. After all, what are school for if it is not to teach kids to do all that? It is not ALL your responsibility. Relax....

4. It is OK if your child eats junk food. It is still food and it's not poison. (Some will argue that junk food is like poison, those people can go away and fly kite!) some kids are fussy eaters, us mothers struggle sometimes to get them to just eat something, anything...! So please don't stress us out even more!

5. It is ok to spend money on yourself instead of on your child. It is the husband's job to provide for the child anyway. By spending your money on yourself and only you, doesn't make you selfish. I believe that if you don't pamper yourself, who will?

6. It is ok to spank/shout at your kids when they don't behave. It doesn't make you a monster. You are only human with emotions. Physically abusing them is wrong but don't feel bad when you need to discipline your child more than just by "talking". I get it!

7. It is OK if you feel like sleeping alone instead of cuddling with the kids. Doesn't make you a bad mother and doesn't mean you love them less. Sometimes we just want space and peace and quiet!

8. It is OK if you are not in the mood to take them swimming, or do painting. Sometimes you just want to do what YOU want to do instead of doing what others expect you to do. Doesn't make you selfish. Relax...

9. It is OK to let the kids cry. They all do. No matter how good or bad a mother you are, they will still cry. So let them cry!

10. It is OK if they're angry. It's not your fault that they are. They need to learn to be angry, sad, happy and all those stuff anyway. Let them experience it...

So much pressure nowadays. People need to take a chill pill and relax.. How kiasu were our parents before? More kiasu than us now? I don't think so. But we turned out ok didn't we?

There you go!

You can find absolutely anything from the internet huh? I recently found something very interesting. Kelate Flying Breakfast! Whoa! What's that? It's basically breakfast flown in from Kelantan!

I jumped with joy when I saw it and couldn't wait to try. When I told other half about my latest discovery, he wasn't all that impressed. He must be thinking oh what now?!!!

We decided to place an order and on Sunday morning, off we went to collect our breakfast. My husband kept making fun of how special this breakfast is going to be!

I placed my order via whatsapp to the number given. They have a few pick up points around Klang valley and I whatsapp'ed the number closest to us which is the number for Ampang/wangsa maju area. It was easy and straightforward but they replied me in Kelantan! It was quite funny to read.

Sampai = sapa
Abang = Abe
Try = Tera

You get the drift? It was hilarious!

Anyway, we found the place and picked up the food and ate at my Mil's house. It was actually quite tasty. I guess we will be ordering again.

RM5.50 for a pack of nasi berlauk is quite expensive according to my husband as he said it is actually only about RM2 in Kelantan.. Ah well! We are in KL anyway so we pay KL price. Plus, they were all air flown so of course you need to consider that cost too.
Anyway it was pretty good and yummy.

Then for dinner, we decided to have fatty crab. We haven't been there in a while.
The thing about fatty crab is that the place is always so packed. Not a good place to bring kids (toddlers) and especially not my kids. They wouldn't be able to sit still!

We called and tapau'ed our favourite stuff from there.

Chili crab is the bomb and to die for. I can have this everyday if it wasn't because of colestrol!

Their chicken wings are yummy too! Once I made fried chicken and I swear it tasted similar to this one. Only that one time. I tried to make it again and couldn't get it right ever since!

So there you go!

Big Breakfast

Today's brunch date was at Frisky Goat in TTDI. It is located near the Public Bank. Parking was a big problem and I had to double park by the main road.

I ordered the big breakfast & a cup of hot latte. It was yummy.

I should organize more brunch dates while kids are in school. You can't see it from the photo but there's at least 2 sunny side up eggs underneath all the salad and all that. The sausage was huge too. Like a size of 2 normal sausages in 1!

The place was packed and apparently the pastries are all good too.

If you are nearby, do give it a go!

Pst: not a sponsored post!

Little things

I only have 3 hours a day when I am not with my kids. That 3 hours are so precious because it is the only time I can have a long bath without interruptions, I can watch tv without kids screaming wanting to watch Tom & Jerry instead, I can call my BFF and talk on the phone without rushing the call and most importantly, 3 hours to run errands and do my kupu kupu stuff.

Good thing is my BFF is also free in the mornings because her kids are also in school. We normally would just chit chat and catch up with each other. It's the best part of my day actually. But today, she was out and I had nothing planned so I decided to do what I've been planning to do for ages but haven't done it yet - which was to look for a torso/mannequin

I found 2 shops that should sell them. 1 was in Lorong Haji Taib and another one is near Kenanga Mall.

Off I went to check out Lorong Haji Taib.
The place looks pretty scary because there's so many things going on there. Mainly people loading stuff from the lorry. Fruits and god knows what else. There was no parking and I didn't want to walk too far to get to the shop. I was scared!

I even saw a hooker while I was driving around looking for parking. I found the shop and quickly just park illegally.

Found what I wanted and was really pleased. They only had display set there and it was dirty and didn't look nice so I asked for a new piece.

Took them forever to look for it. I was worried about parking. After about 20minutes of waiting, they told me they don't have a new set and they would give me a discount for the display unit. It was not a good enough deal so I left feeling really disappointed.

Off I went to Kenanga area and found the shop I was looking for. Again, no parking and I had to go round and round and round. Time was ticking and I ended up parking illegally too. Seems like everyone else was double parking too. I ran to the store and immediately saw what I wanted!

Hurray!! 10 minutes later, I left the store with what I wanted and feeling so great!

Mission accomplished!!!

Rushed home and cooked lunch for the kiddos! They didn't even know I was gone!

I'm so excited!!!

If you are looking for mannequin or any display fixtures, do visit this shop!

It's the little things like this that makes me happy.

Last night while I was in bed trying to sleep, I stopped for a second to count my blessings. Sometimes we get caught up with all our daily routine, we tend to forget how blessed we really are.

Everyone has good days and bad days. That's normal and no matter how bad things are, there is always something to be thankful for.

I was listening to an interview and Neelofa said she spends at least 3 minutes at the end of her day to talk to Allah. Not in doa, but talking... Like how you would to a friend. She said that by doing it daily, you would feel closer to Him, just like how you would if you speak to someone on a daily basis. It made sense doesn't it? I plan to try that too.

But anyway...
There's so many things in life that I'm thankful for...

1. I still have my mum with me. She's healthy and I pray to God that I will go first before her. I'm selfish like that. I can't imagine my life without my mum. I am so blessed that I have her in my life.

2. My children are healthy and well. Yes they do drive me up the wall. They're cheeky and naughty just like any other child but Alhamdulillah they don't have tantrums and generally are good kids and they listen and behave pretty well when we are out. I'm so thankful that Allah gave them to me.
They're the best! They make me laugh and although the best time of the day is when they are quiet and  asleep at night (hahaha), I love them with all my heart.

3. My husband is always there for me. He is an amazing father and always around for us. Yes we fight and argue and disagree like any other couple but at the end of the day, we love each other and I know he would do anything for me.

4. I am healthy. I look good and feel good. I mean, I'm 35 and I have 2 kids. Of course I get backaches, of course I have extra fats around my tummy, of course I have wrinkles here and there on my face but I am healthy. Alhamdulillah for that.

5. I have good friends. Friends from uni that are constantly and always just a Whatsapp away although we live million miles apart. I have a group of girls I can play silly with and rant about life with. And best of all, I have a best friend that I consider more like a sister.
Someone I can totally be myself with and someone who totally gets me. I love my BFF! I can't imagine my life without these few girls.

Always count your blessings. ALWAYS

School fair

We've never attended any and haven't started with our search. Honestly speaking, I don't know what I'm looking for. I have a few schools in our list that we think is suitable but what do we know? Currently there are 3 schools that I like. I haven't arranged any school visits yet tho.

When we saw this banner, we were quite excited. I don't know what to expect but hopefully this will be a good place to speak to the schools and "shop around".

We've heard amazing stories from my BFF about the school her son is in and we are excited to explore that school too. Initially it wasn't in my list but after hearing all the amazing stuff that they do in the school, I have to check it out. Plus, the school is not too far from where we are willing to travel to.

Can't wait to start exploring...

I just saw a friend posted photos of her maldives trip and I'm so jealous!!!! I want to go too!!!!!

I had the best time ever when we went to Maldives for our honeymoon. I've probably blogged about it a couple of times before. Seriously it is really the MOST beautiful place on earth. I love Maldives so much.

It was so beautiful, I don't know how to explain. We went there for 5 days and it was the best 5 days of my life. We did nothing but sleep, eat and swim all day!

It was 5 years ago when we went there. I am so bad at taking photos that I didn't get any nice shots. Somehow it doesn't look all that great in the photos but seriously I just don't know how to describe how beautiful the place was.

Funny thing about our trip was the spa. I was a Spa Queen back then. Lady of leisure. And during our trip, we thought the massage was going to be a typical hotel soft / light pressure massage but it turned out to be one helluva massage. It was super painful and strong until I almost died. But surprisingly, we were sore or feel any pain after it. In fact, it felt really good. The massage itself was pure torture but the after feel is amazing. We still laugh about it!

I wonder when my next trip will be. Hubs said we can't bring the kids there yet because the boat ride is not going to be comfortable for them. I guess, another 3-4 years? Wow.

Maldives... I miss you!

If you are looking to go for a beach holiday, please go to Maldives! Book via ATOLL Paradise. We were treated like royalty the whole time.

Ps: this is not a sponsored post & my photos don't do the place justice

I'm busy clearing out stuff from my party business. I did that for about 3-4 years and it was pretty good. I had my regulars and I had good jobs. But the problem with party business is I don't have staff. I wasn't prepared and ready to hire so I had to let that go for now. Whenever I'm free, I will still take orders but if I'm not, I will just pass the business to someone else. I still do my kids birthdays myself and that's about it. It was too little money for me I'm afraid. So now I'm clearing my stock.

I've got more stuff from this business to let go.

So if you are planning to do your own party, email me.. I might have what you need to DIY your party!

I am really sad. A friend lost her mother today. I've never met her mother but I read so much about her mama in her blog Mamapumpkin. I'm just so so sad.

My prayers and thoughts are with her & family. Makes me feel so blessed that I still have a mother. Alhamdulillah she's well and all... But never take them for granted. Allah can take anyone anytime. Hug your loved ones tight tonight.

Please recite Alfatihah for Mama Elena. I know she's in a better place.

Al fatihah...

Stuff for sale

We sold our house recently and we have to get some of our junks out from there soon. The new owners want to start renovation ASAP.

I have made my peace and accepted the fact that the house is no longer ours. I just want to get rid of whatever unwanted stuff. I can be such a hoarder I swear!

We emptied the house and we have a bunch on stuff to give away and sell! We don't have enough space to store everything here!

I really need to do lots of spring cleaning! ASAP

Let's start

We've been talking about it for a few weeks now and I think I'm pretty sure hubs and I are on the same page. International school it is for our daughter.

I've made that list that I've shared with you all of all the schools that is around our area. I need to start making school visits soon.

My plan this week is to start emailing and calling some of these schools first.

Few years back, I contacted ELC and wanted to find out more but they were pretty strict and wasn't at all friendly. It was like "take it or leave it" attitude. They told me that my daughter needs to be able to write and all before they will consider her. At that time, she was only 3 plus and of course she didn't know how to write then. Weren't school supposed to teach our children how to write?? Why is it a requirement to enter schools now? Weird right? Kids are so pressured these days.

Anyway, although ELC had "attitude" I'm still very interested in going on a school visit. I want to know why they are so "lansi". I read that all the children in their school are very well behaved children and if yes, I want to know what is it that they do there that's different and good for my daughter. It's a bit far for me to be honest but I've read some really good reviews and I think it's probably worth a visit. Who knows?

Another school I'm interested to visit is Taylor's International School. It's pretty close to my house. British international school is also in my list, together with GIS. My husband is an alumni of GIS too.

So much things to do next week. I'm so excited to start my research. Honestly speaking, I don't know what I am looking for. I mean, ALL schools will have good and bad teachers. I think I will be looking for the "feel". If we feel good when we are there or not.

Hope to get some guidance... May Allah lead me to the right path

I love my life

I do have bad days. Like other people, I too have REALLY bad days. I also have REALLY bad days when I feel like giving up, running away or just drop dead. Yes, I have those days. But Alhamdulillah there's always a light at the end of my tunnel.

Sometimes it is so hard to stay positive. It can be hard to stay calm and can be super hard to stay sane. With my two kids, sometimes all they do is drive me crazy. Sometimes, I wonder if I will ever be the same person I was before. You know, so full of life, so calm and composed.

Being a mother is tough. Being a wife is tough. I am still struggling to be the best I can be and sometimes my biggest enemy is me.

Today, we attended a birthday party and kids had an amazing time. My husband was in a good mood and I was also feeling great. No reason, but just got me thinking how good life is, really.

We are blessed with a happy family. I have a good husband who is an amazing father to my children. We are healthy. What else do I want and need?

Time to take a moment and count my blessings.

On that note, Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha to all...

Dinner out

We eat dinner outside almost 2x a week. Especially when we do groceries, we will eat out at the same Thai restaurant and most of the time order the exact same thing. Kids love their chicken soup there.

Last night, we had to go out to buy birthday gifts for a birthday party we will be attending later today.

It was such a bad move because it was a Friday. It was raining cats & dogs. What does that mean?? Crazy traffic.

Bangsar is onl 20 minutes away but because of the Friday + rain traffic, we were in the car for ages!!! I was so restless and of course, the kids were as well. Thank god for iPad!

By the time we got to Bangsar, we were all starving as it was already almost 8pm.

To keep my daughter entertained, we started playing Make An Alphabets game using fork&spoon on the table.
This is I and H.
This is F
This is E
And this is A.

Just nice and our food came. We ate pretty quickly as we were hungry.

Entertaining kids when we are out is a nightmare, especially in the restaurant! iPad sometimes doesn't work as they would rather run around and screaming and playing.

At this particular restaurant, there's a red bicycle decor and a bench from the next door restarant and kids just love running and playing there.

How do you entertain your kids when you take them out?

Pamper yourself

How do you pamper yourself? What do you like to do if you want to give yourself a treat?

For me, since I don't have the time and I never leave my kids with just the maid, I can only pamper myself when they're in school or if my husband is around to look after them.

I have about 3 hours during the day when they're in school. During this time, I will try to schedule something when I'm not busy with kupukupu or running errands.

This week, I decided to go for facial. It's so damn difficult to get an appointment there and I try to schedule in advance. Once a month, at least, I will take some time to treat my skin.

Today, I also got my nails done. If only I had time, I'll also do my hair. I need to get a perm next I think.

I think we mothers need some time away from our kids too. It doesn't mean we love or care for them less. It just mean that we care about us too. We're not only mothers, we are also someone's wife and we need to always look good for the husbands don't we? Above all, we need to look good for us.. When I look good, I feel good. When I feel good, I'm always a better mummy and a better wife.

Raya preparation

Oh dear... It is aidiladha this coming Sunday and I haven't done anything yet. I've been so busy I just totally didn't realise raya is just around the corner! Looks like we won't have much this Aidiladha.

Believe it or not, I didn't get my kids any raya baju this time. Not that I didn't plan it soon enough but my kupukupu tailor couldn't deliver it on time. I guess it is partly my fault as I put in the order only 2 weeks before September. Well, by right it should be enough time but they were tied with other orders and therefore I had to wait for my 'turn'.

Luckily I got my baju kurung orders ready in time and luckily for my daughter, she liked one from that collection. Looks like she is the only one sorted this raya!
Can you guess which one she chose? This are some of the stuff I have in my new collection.

My son will probably wear something from the aidilfitri collection. I have decided to wear my old batik kurung kedah. I'm sure I can still fit into that baju.
Hubs said he will just wear a shirt.

As you can tell, we are not into raya so much. Especially raya haji.

What I'm really looking forward to is meeting up with family and relatives. Oh and of course, the raya food!

Have a good long weekend everyone! Those traveling to hometown, be safe on the road!

Selamat Hari Raya

Back in UK, whenever I was so lazy to cook and can't be bothered to go out and don't feel like ordering food, I will always make pasta! It's just the easiest thing to make. Of course I don't make my own pasta and I don't even make my own sauce, that's why it's so easy!

Open and boil the pasta from the packet. Pasta sauce from the bottle and then done. Well, that's the simplest way but of course I do it slighly different to make it taste better!

Whenever my husband is not around, this will be my meal. He's not a pasta person so normally I cook rice and dishes when he is around but when he's not, I will surely make this pasta.

First I will get my maid to boil the pasta and prepare the stuff I need. What I need to make this:

1. Celery - cut/chopped in small pieces
2. Carrots - cut/chopped in a small pieces
3. Boneless chicken in small pieces
4. Blend garlic & onions
5. Chili paste (chili boh/chili giling)
6. Salt & pepper
7. Squid or Prawns which I will marinate with salt, pepper & turmeric powder
8. Cut/chopped some fresh herbs like corriander leaf
9. Prego traditional sauce in the glass bottle

Here's how I do it...
1. First I will fry the squid or prawns with a little bit of olive oil. Then put it aside. This takes approximately 3-4minutes only!

2. Heat the pan with olive oil. Then add the blended onions, garlic, chili paste.

3. Add the carrots & celery & chicken pieces. Let it cook. (Wait until the chicken is cooked and the carrots & celery to soften a little bit)

4. Add the prego sauce.

5. Season with salt & pepper

My husband is away a lot so this is my comfort food! Yummy!

Try it!
